Author Guidelines

1. General Information

The Journal is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal that publishes original and high-quality research in the fields of criminal law, criminal justice, criminology, penal policy, and related interdisciplinary studies. Manuscripts submitted to the journal must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration by any other publication.

The journal welcomes contributions from academics, researchers, legal practitioners, policymakers, and postgraduate students.

2. Types of Manuscripts

The journal accepts:

  • Original Research Articles

  • Review Articles

  • Case and Policy Analyses

  • Book Review

3. Scope of the Journal

Submitted manuscripts must fall within the journal's focus and scope, including but not limited to:

  • Criminal Law

  • Criminal Procedure

  • Criminal Justice System

  • Criminology and Victimology

  • Cybercrime and Digital Crime

  • Corporate Crime

  • Corruption and Financial Crime

  • Environmental Crime

  • Human Rights and Criminal Justice

  • Restorative Justice

  • Transnational and International Criminal Law

  • Penal Policy and Prison Reform

  • Comparative Criminal Law

4. Language

Manuscripts must be written in clear and academic English.

Authors whose first language is not English are strongly encouraged to have their manuscripts professionally proofread before submission.

5. Manuscript Preparation

Article Length

  • Recommended length: 6,000–10,000 words

  • Including references, tables, figures, and appendices

Format

  • Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx)

  • A4 paper size

  • Margins: 2.5 cm on all sides

  • Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt

  • Line spacing: 1 (single)

  • Page numbers included

Structure of Manuscript

Title

The title should be concise, informative, and reflect the content of the article.

Author Information

Include:

  • Full name(s)

  • Institutional affiliation(s)

  • ORCID ID (recommended)

  • Email address of the corresponding author (affiliation email only)

Abstract

  • 150–250 words

  • Written in English

  • Clearly state:

    • Background

    • Purpose

    • Method

    • Findings

    • Conclusion

Keywords

Provide 4–6 keywords separated by semicolons.

Main Text

The manuscript should generally contain:

  1. Introduction

  2. Literature Review (if applicable)

  3. Research Method

  4. Results and Discussion

  5. Conclusion

  6. References

For doctrinal legal research, authors may adapt the structure according to the nature of the study.

6. Citation and References

The journal uses the latest edition of APA Style (7th Edition).

Authors are encouraged to use reference management software such as:

  • Mendeley

  • Zotero

  • EndNote

Reference Requirements

  • At least 20 references for research articles.

  • At least 80% of references should be from scholarly sources.

  • Priority should be given to sources published within the last ten years.

  • DOI numbers should be included whenever available.

7. Tables and Figures

  • Tables and figures must be numbered consecutively.

  • Each table and figure must have a title and source (if applicable).

  • Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted materials.

8. Publication Ethics

IJCCL follows the principles of publication ethics based on the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Authors must:

  • Submit original work.

  • Avoid plagiarism and self-plagiarism.

  • Properly acknowledge all sources.

  • Disclose conflicts of interest.

  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of research data.

Any manuscript found to contain unethical practices may be rejected or retracted.

9. Plagiarism Policy

All submissions will be screened using plagiarism detection software.

The maximum similarity index is:

  • Overall similarity: not more than 20%

  • Similarity from a single source: not more than 3%

Editors may reject manuscripts exceeding these limits.

10. Peer Review Process

All manuscripts undergo a Double-Blind Peer Review process.

The review process generally consists of:

  1. Initial editorial screening

  2. Similarity checking

  3. Double-blind peer review by at least two reviewers

  4. Editorial decision:

    • Accept

    • Minor Revision

    • Major Revision

    • Reject

  5. Final editorial evaluation

The Editor-in-Chief has the final decision regarding publication.

11. Open Access Policy

The journal provides immediate open access to its content to support the global exchange of knowledge and promote wider dissemination of scientific research.

12. Copyright and Licensing

Authors retain copyright of their work while granting the journal the right of first publication.

Published articles are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY), unless otherwise specified by the journal.

13. Article Processing Charges (APC)

Information regarding submission fees, publication fees, or APCs will be announced on the journal website. Any applicable charges will be clearly communicated before publication.

14. Submission Procedure

Manuscripts must be submitted through the journal’s online submission system.

Authors should upload:

  1. Manuscript file

  2. Title page

  3. Declaration of originality (if required)

  4. Ethical approval document (where applicable)

  5. Supplementary files (if any)

Authors are advised to ensure that all metadata entered into the submission system are accurate and complete.
