DIGITAL CHILD ABUSE CRIMES IN GARUT: CRIMINAL AND CHILD PROTECTION PERSPECTIVES

Digital child abuse crimes have emerged as a significant challenge to child protection in the digital era, facilitated by the widespread use of digital communication technologies and online platforms. In Garut, the increasing exposure of children to digital environments has created new opportunities for abuse, exploitation, and other technology-assisted crimes, raising concerns regarding the effectiveness of criminal law and child protection mechanisms. This study analyzes digital child abuse crimes in Garut from the perspectives of criminal law and child protection. Using normative legal research with a statutory and conceptual approach, the study examines relevant provisions of criminal law, child protection legislation, and cybercrime regulations applicable to digital offenses involving children. The findings indicate that although Indonesia has established a legal framework to address digital crimes against children, law enforcement continues to face challenges related to digital evidence, investigative capacity, inter-agency coordination, and technological developments. The study argues that effective responses to digital child abuse require stronger legal enforcement, enhanced digital forensic capabilities, and integrated cooperation among law enforcement agencies, child protection institutions, and digital platform providers.
